CALL FOR ENTRIES: MMCC / MAG JURIED SPRING SHOW

"Heritage: Natural and Cultural"

A Madison-Morgan Cultural Center
Juried Art Show with
the Madison Artists Guild

CALL FOR ENTRIES
The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center and the Madison Artists Guild are pleased to announce a call for entries for “Heritage, Natural and Cultural”, a Madison-Morgan Cultural Center Juried Art Show with the Madison Artists Guild. Heritage is a tie that may bind or separate human beings. Our earthly inheritance may include fauna and flora, landscape and landforms. There is also the heritage of both physical and intangible markers of who we are as individuals and as a society. Whether natural or cultural, our heritage is based on an individual’s life experience and open to his or her interpretation. The intent of the show will be to reflect the highest quality art from MAG artists in a broad range of media showcasing the talent of MAG member artists.

The juror is Alan MacTaggart, Chair of the Department of Art at Augusta State University. Mr. MacTaggart, a graduate of Pratt Institute, East Tennessee State University, and Clemson University, has been the recipient of two Fulbright Awards, to England and Bulgaria. He was Artist-in-Residence at Schloss Wiepersdorf, Brandenburg, Germany, and Supervisor of Special Exhibitions/Sales at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. MacTaggart served as Dean of Arts and Humanities, Chair of Fine Arts, and Professor at Lander University. An experienced juror, Mr. MacTaggart’s work has been exhibited more than 100 times at home and abroad.

This show is open to any artist age 18 and up who is a current member of the Madison Artists Guild or joins or renews membership at the time of entry. A $20 entry fee allows each artist to submit up to three (3) entries. Entry deadline is February 28, 2012. Works must be delivered on site at MMCC on Monday, March19, 2012. Terms and conditions of participation are enumerated in the Prospectus for Juried Show.
