Georgia in Bloom Art Fest ‘11
Plein Air Paint Out Auction & Reception

Make plans to attend the Plein Air Paint Out Auction/Reception at 6 pm Friday May 6th.  Some of the area's best painters will be offering paintings in this silent auction during the wine and cheese reception that evening.

The Great Lawn of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center will be transformed with mini-tents popping up all over to showcase paintings created during the all day Plein Air Paint Out earlier in the day.  Our judges will determine the winners of the show and then the auction will kick off!  Enjoy the refreshments while you wander from tent to tent deciding which painting to bid on!  There will be about 30 minutes to bid and then you'll be able to take home your treasure!  Bring your check books or cash, because we can't take credit cards.

Proceeds from the auction sales will benefit the artists AND the Madison Artists Guild.  This is the 4th annual Spring Tour of Homes Paint Out and there are some really quality painters participating, as always!  The Cultural Center is located at 434 S. Main Street just south of downtown Madison.  Questions?  Please contact Karen Strelecki at 706-752-0137 or email kstrelecki@mac.com.

GIB 2010

Once again the Shops at the Icehouse Underground played host to the third annual Georgia in Bloom Art Fest Awards Reception.  Despite the threat of a serious downpour, 65 artists, their spouses, friends and relatives packed the underground avenue to enjoy plenty of wine, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and desserts lovingly prepared by Guild Foodies.

The evening’s festivities included a DVD presentation of the entire show.  This video production is an annual treat prepared by artist and Guild member, Peter Muzyka.  Each participating GIB artist receives a copy of the final DVD as a memento of the art show, which merges art and commerce.  Georgia in Bloom is a  collaboration between the Madison Artists Guild and 14 venues from Rutledge to Madison & Buckhead.  The show ran through May 8.

This year’s GIB judge was Mr. Gary Weiss, an extraordinary painter and art instructor at The Creative Circus in Atlanta.  Mr. Weiss juried the show entries and judged the final entries for the 13 awards given this year.
