Diane Davies, the Maid of Clay, creates pottery from clay and fire.  She is a member of the Madison Artists Guild and Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation. Her work has been in numerous juried art shows and galleries. She has also conducted workshops at her studio in Madison, GA. Her commissioned pieces have been presented to heads of State and dignitaries throughout the world.  She throws functional pottery and works of art designed to be enjoyed in everyday life.

Diane Davies is the founder of the 4-H Environmental Education Program for the University of Georgia, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and she is a group 12 Kellogg National Fellow through the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.  During her Kellogg fellowship, she traveled all over the world studying conflict issues surrounding public lands, national parks and game reserves.  The personal development portion of her learning plan began the next adventure in her life; she studied pottery in Asheville, North Carolina.

Diane says “My entire career has been devoted to teaching children about the earth, now it is only fitting that I work with my hands to create pottery pieces from that earth… It truly completes the circle of my life.  It is an honor for me to make this pottery for you.  Enjoy!”
