Sam Traina

Sam Traina was born in Tampa Florida and began drawing his favorite cartoon characters at an early age.  He became a professional musician at 16 playing the local bars and nightclubs in the surrounding area 6 nights a week from 9:30pm to 2:30 am while still going to high school.

At 21 Sam was offered a job playing guitar with a popular band at the time that had quite a few top ten songs and moved to Atlanta with his wife. He played music with many bands in the Atlanta area for many years and eventually opened up a successful musical equipment retail store and sound/video installation business in Conyers, Ga. At it’s height, he sold the music store but kept the installation business which he still works today. This gave Sam some extra time so in app 2005 he went back to his old drawing roots to see if that might lead somewhere. He immediately rediscovered that old passion he had for drawing but now began applying color also. He has studied with Larry Moore, Elizabeth Tolley, Dalhart Windberg, and Barbara Dickerson (his first instructor).

“I appreciate traditional landscapes and enjoy painting the scenes that are close to me in Georgia and North Carolina. When I paint, I try to communicate a balance of feeling, mood, and a bit of subtle mystery.”

Sam has an Associates Degree in Science and needs just 15 hours more for his Bachelor’s degree. He hopes to one day get that last 15 hours competed.

Sam’s immediate family consist of his wife Lyla, daughters Keia and Sara, and son David.
